Getting Started
The miracles of Jesus are included in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These miracles provide examples and act as reminders to the power of Jesus Christ during his three-year ministry, including raising the dead. Several of the miracle stories are found in several or all of the Gospels, while others appear only once. Nevertheless, the four Gospels as a group reveal the amazing healing and deliverance ministry of Jesus, along with Christ's many teachings and doctrinal truths.
A miracle is defined in current dictionaries as a phenomenal or supernatural event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers, more often than not incapable of being explained by the laws of nature. God never operates contrary to His Word or to the laws of nature which He has established, but He has the prerogative to supersede them.
Jesus Christ was not the first to do miracles. There were many miracles of God in the Old Testament. The ten plagues in Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, the manna from heaven, the water from a rock, Aaron's rod that budded, the ground that opened up and swallowed Korah and the rebels, the sun and moon standing still, the three Judeans in Nebuchadnezzar's fiery furnace, Daniel in the lion's den, and many others. But Jesus' miracles were distinctive. They were signs and mighty works which authenticated His divinity and His mission. People had heard the stories of the God of miracles, and His awesome and astonishing power, but the miracles of Jesus elicited unique responses. "…they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. …and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well." (Mark 2:12, 5:42, 6:51, 7:37 KJV)
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." (Acts 10:38)

"And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name." Miracles of Jesus: Born of a virgin
(Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 1:26-38)
In the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus is described as being the Messiah (Christ) who was promised by the prophets of the Old Testament of the Bible. Jesus is fully God and fully human. God allowed himself to be born as a person, to live among people and to teach people about God's plan of salvation and to die for our sins. Because Jesus also is human, he is called the Son of God and the Son of Man. Jesus was born to a woman named Mary about 2000 years ago in the town of Bethlehem, which is near Jerusalem, in the Biblical land of Israel. Mary was engaged to a man named Joseph. In Matthew 1:20, Joseph is called a "son of David," meaning he is a descendant of King David, who ruled over Israel about 3000 years ago. Mary was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus. The miracle of the virgin birth of Jesus is recorded in the gospels of Matthew and Luke in the New Testament of the Bible. In the Gospel of Matthew, it says: This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us"). When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Prayer:
Glory be to our God! We praise You and honor You for Who You are. We are Your people, which are called by Your Name, and so blessed to be able to study Your Word, so we can learn more of You and the way You would have us to go. Thank You for the privilege to share Your Word. Grant us the wisdom to use Your Word wisely. Help us to live in a manner worthy of the calling You have placed on our lives, (Ephesians 4:1) and to magnify Your Name in all things. AMEN!
